The Hong Kong Volunteer Award 2023 Presentation Ceremony (“HKV-Award”), co-organized by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Agency for Volunteer Service, was successfully held on 3 January 2024. HKV-Award recognizes the contributions and achievements of outstanding volunteers and teams, young people, corporations, organizations from various sectors, cross-sectoral partnership projects, estates, and schools. This year, over 22,000 awards were presented; for more details, please refer to the awardee list.


AVS is a member of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) and the Global Network of Volunteering Leadership  (GNVL).  As you may know, IAVE is an international organization that primarily aims to promote, strengthen and celebrate the development of volunteering worldwide. It holds volunteer conference every year for exchange, networking, and inspiration of volunteerism across countries and cultures.


義務工作發展局 (Agency for Volunteer Service,簡稱AVS ) 上月委託香港恒生大學市場學系進行「香港義務工作調查」,透過網上和實體訪問,收集社會大眾日常參與義務工作的數據和意見,了解香港人參與義務工作的情況並作深入分析,為制定未來義務工作發展提供策略方向,宣揚「關愛香港 人人行義」的精神。


The 5th of December is the International Volunteer Day (IVD) proclaimed by the United Nations to promote volunteerism, and to encourage governments and organizations to pay tribute to volunteers in recognition of their contributions to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Since 1992, AVS has been celebrating the IVD annually to show appreciation to volunteers, and to encourage more aspiring ones to adopt the volunteering way of life.

This year, Agency for Volunteer Service invited Hong Kong Famous Idol group – MIRROR, to support and cheer up volunteers through videos. We hope more people are inspired to unite the power of the community in building a caring and inclusive society.


The Agency for Volunteer Service (“AVS”) is one of the six volunteer matching platforms collaborating with the “JC VOLUNTEER TOGETHER PLATFORM” (“JCVTP”). With the support of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, AVS launched a series of volunteer services to encourage those who first encounter volunteer service, whether they are families with young children, intergenerational volunteers, working adults or general public, to take an active part in volunteering.
