“Books for Love @ $10” is co-organized by the Swire Properties Community Ambassador Programme, the Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) and the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA). It is now in the tenth run since 2009. A special offer of “Buy 10 for 11” is launched for all book lovers to celebrate this milestone. 10 illustrators were teamed up to showcase their inspiring illustrations on Facebook and Instagram pages.

 

A large-scale book recycling drive was launched in January this year, calling for the donation of books from the public via 44 book collection points throughout Hong Kong. Around 300,000 books have now been collected. The “Books for Love @ $10” in-person book sale was scheduled from 25 June to 3 July, from 12 noon to 8 pm. The nine-day event will be held at ArtisTree and 4/F, Berkshire House, Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay. The charity sales allow book lovers to browse and buy their favourite books at HK$10 each.

 

This year, we are launching a “Gift a Book” Programme, where the general public is invited to purchase book coupons online, which the organizers will help donate to underprivileged students.

 

All charity sales will go towards supporting the “Treasure Trove” project led by BGCA and promoting sustainable volunteerism by AVS. Meanwhile, volunteer support is needed for the book sorting, processing, distribution as well as sale activities for the charity book sale every year.
